Goals for the week

Long Run

I felt fatigued and heavy right from go on this run, which in marathon training is the point really. Considering this I was surprised by the paces I hit, according to GPS, averaging 7:08.

I did 17 miles, bridging the gap in my plan to 18 in a few weeks.

Accustomed to 2 gels on a long run, I experimented with 3 today, every 30 mins or so. This frequency did feel a bit heavier, though that might’ve been my stomach on the day rather than the rate of gels, I’m not sure. I’ll continue to trial.

Thoughts

10 weeks to go now.

Next week workouts are due to start, gently, with some race effort the day before my long run.

I’m sceptical of the need for them but I do want to get a feel for that effort and see what pace it comes out to at the moment.
